Volunteer Leaders

Young Life doesn't start with a program. It starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don't happen overnight—they take time, patience, trust and consistency.

The role of a volunteer Young Life leader is to love Jesus, and then go into the world of kids with the hope of earning a voice so they can share the love of Jesus with them.

In Marquette County, leaders are predominantly Northern Michigan University students. Throughout the semester, prospective leaders will go through bi-weekly trainings, and, once completed, will be placed on a leadership team.

The empathetic, trusting space that can be built between a kid and their Young Life leader is the heart of our ministry. It is the place where kids can experience the freedom offered through Jesus Christ, maybe for the first time.
